Ramadan- First Look

I have received this presentation via e-mail. The sender commented:

“This presentation was given by Shell , the British Giant Oil Company, to their non-Muslim employees to understand the fasting month of Ramadan.

I am impressed by their effort, as it exemplifies how a world class oil company addresses cultural issues by spreading simple, yet clear facts to its non Muslim employees working in Islamic countries.

I thought that you may find it interesting, and perhaps you may wish to pass it on to anyone who might find it useful.”

  1. assalam alaikum,

i have to doubt two things, first that it was made by big heads in the company. it seems one of the bosses maybe muslim or know some about islam so he asked a muslim employee to make such a presentation, because to be honest, many of the information is too much for non-muslims, for example they used many arabic words and many of them can be replaced.

another thing, on what to do for other muslim emplyees it says
try NOT avoid the following instead of avoid. i thought that was funny.

can we get a confirmation or unconfrimation whether this presentation was actually used by Shell? i doubt it (bashook)

  2. wa alaikum al salaam,

I had my doubts too.. the presentation is said to be given in branches in the middle east and north africa where you would find large muslim populations. You can find this same presentation in a bunch of places on the internet but nothing tying it to Shell directly.

That being said: whether the source is shell or not, I would’ve posted it. I thought it’s a simple and informative presentation. But I will see if I can find more clues.

    Also good catch!
