California Debates

I have had some discussions with some people about the value of debates in inviting people to faith. Debates could be a lot like sports matches. I believe that debates are only useful for the small percentage of any audience who can hear beyond the art of speech and who attend carrying an academic mentality towards religion (as all Muslims should be since Islam focuses on logic throughout the Quran… we can debate that too).

I like the way that the second debate started and I would like to reiterate it here:

“Christians wake up; no body is dying for your sins. You will be accounted for every single deed that you make or will make.”

These 2 debates took place in California between Jalal Abu Al Rub, David Wood and James White.

The topics a are as follows (you can download the audio by clicking at the titles)

1. Is Muhammed (pbuh) a Prophet?

2. Does the bible teach that Jesus (pbuh) is God?

Mohammed in Their Eyes

During Crusade Era, many lies were concocted by the missionary and western writers to discredit the Prophet of Islam, his message and his teachings. This continued until recently when scientific discoveries and freedom of thought changed many people’s perception of things, and it became increasingly difficult for falsehood-mongers to pull wool over peoples’ eyes. The following are some testimonies that some non-Muslim scholars, thinkers and political icons had to give about the Prophet of Islaam.

Larmatine, the French scholar says:

“If greatness of purpose, smallness of means, and astounding results are the three criteria of human genius, who could dare to compare any great man in modern history with Muhammad? The most famous men created arms, laws and empires only. They founded, if anything at all, no more than material powers which often crumbled away before their eyes. (more…)

Who Wrote the Bible? Historical Background.

The 4 gospels were written by 4 different men. Who were these men? when did they write the new testament? is it a word of God? (I have heard so many say that the bible is a word of God because it says that it is a word of God… this is a logic of the illogical indeed)

Please understand my questions as a search for historical knowledge and not as an attack on any other religions book. I found some answers in this very interesting documentary. Corrections and/or comments are encouraged.

If you do have the time, it is worthwhile watching the whole series.
